Kota Kinabalu, Sabah

Hurray, hurray, it's a holi-holiday......

On 3 Aug 2007, we boarded Air Asia from Penang and flew to KK. The flight took about 3 hours to reach our destination. The kids and I were estatic as it was our first trip to East Malaysia. My little boy (aged 3) had his first flight that day.

We stayed at Hyatt for 4D/3N. Its location at the central of KK is an advantage as we could roam freely as shopping malls were all within walking distance.

On the second day, we registered at the hotel's tourdesk for a one day island tour. We went island hopping from 9-5, lunch inclusive. First, a stopover at Pulau Sapi, then snorkelling trip at Pulau Manukan and finally had lunch at Pulau Mamutik. Everyone on board agreed that Pulau Mamutik was a better spot for snorkelling as corals at Pulau Manukan were dying. Dead corals were found everywhere on the beach and sea-bed. Flippers are recommended for young children.

Buffet BBQ seafood by the beach side was simply fabulous. Fresh catch of the day were cooked on the spot. For seafood lovers, this is not something you wanna miss.

Lastly, before departure, remember to bring home some frozen sea products such as abalone, prawns, garoupa, cod fish etc as these are real cheap.

KLCC

We have been to KLCC several times before but last visited on 14 April 2007.

We booked a two-room suite at Zon All Suites Residence. Room rates were considered cheap at RM320nett and breakfast for four was provided. The suite is spacious that comes along two bathrooms, a kitchen and a dinning hall.

Personally I would think that it could do better if given a facelift. We were lucky to have the view of KLCC by the window. The hotel is just ten minutes walk across the park to KLCC Suria, another shopping paradise.

Cameron Highlands

A most relaxing holiday. We were up there for a one day trip on Christmas Day 2006.

The new road through Simpang Pulai is no doubt less winding and takes a shorter time to reach Tanah Rata compared to the old route Tapah-Ringlet. We were there to savour the famous frog legs reportedly to be the size of a small chick. Yeah, food was good but not cheap. The two giant frogs had cost us a whooping RM80.(Hey, a normal size frog usually cost only RM7).

Weather is cool and breezy. A nice cup of hot tea at Cameron Valley will definitely perk you up. View of the tea plantation is simply breathtaking. It is also a good place to shop for fresh fruits, vegetables and flowers too.

KL - Berjaya Times Square

Visiting day : 7 Oct 2006

Nice posh hotel. Shopping and entertainment under one roof. My kid loves the indoor themepark-Cosmo's and the 3-D theatre, I-max. Strategically located in the Golden Triangle of KL, the hotel has a connected walkway to the LRT station. The twin buildings housed many designer brands and of course, my favourite hang-out would be none other than the biggest bookstore - BORDERS.

Hotel suite is very nice and spacious. The hotel provides good amenities and has some commendable facilities such as the big, well-landscaped swimming pool. The water temperature of the pool is however, a big consideration for anyone who may want to take a dip as it is at a freezing point. A definitely no-no for young children.

I can't comment on the hotel food as I had never eaten in. There are far too many tempting food out-of-the-hotel to be savoured at a much cheaper price too.

Damai Laut, Lumut

Came here to celebrate my little girl's birthday in year 2005.

It was the second time I came to stay at Swiss Garden Damailaut Resort, the first being part of Treasure Hunt trip many years ago. There weren't many guests who checked in that weekend despite that the resort has boasted its 27 hole golf course and spa.

Food served was not palatable. There were many flies, thousands of them hung around the non-seaside restaurant. It was so yucky!! Someone should make a box office "The Flies" out of this.

Genting Highlands

A place of entertainment. That's what people called it.

Located up on a highland and can be accessed by way of skyway cable cars or drive all the way up to the peak.

Weather is cool and nice, usually foggy when the sun is not up and shining. It is most famous for both its outdoor and indoor themeparks whereby people of all ages enjoy the adventurous rides and other attractions. For those who come to seek fortune, they can try their luck in the 24/7 casinos.
